How to Choose a Perfect Picture for Birth Announcement Cards

Want to include a photo of your new baby in your birth announcement card? Although we don’t integrate photographs into our designs, we think it’s a great idea to tuck a photo of your little one inside your birth announcement.

Here are some useful tips to help you select the perfect picture for your birth announcement.

1. Select the style of the birth announcement card first. Want a hip birth announcement? A sweet-as-pie birth announcement? A mod, retro or completely sophisticated birth announcement? We’ve got it all.

2. Take stock of the photos you already have of your newborn and ask yourself some questions. Do you want a photo that includes yourself and/or your partner? Do you want a close up shot? A photo that hints at the personality you feel your newborn has already started to display?

3. Scrutinize each photo meticulously for color, lighting, shadow and graininess. Avoid Polaroids, and if you are printing photos from your home computer, use photography-grade paper – never plain printer paper.

4. Don’t feel that any of the photos you have on hand fit the bill? Take a few more shots. Keep in mind that there is no harm in delaying the announcement a few days rather than sending a birth announcement card you don’t love.
